Małopolska: Inspiration For Your Research Journey

AGH University of Krakow played a key role in shaping my academic career, enabling my progression from postdoctoral researcher to associate professor. I now lead an international research team of doctoral and postdoctoral researchers. AGH’s supportive research environment and Krakow’s high quality of life create ideal conditions for innovation and academic excellence.

Since 2023, inter-university cooperation has enabled my research mobility at URK. In February 2025, I joined a research project led by dr hab. inż. Anna Klamerus-Iwan, prof., as a postdoctoral researcher. This experience has strongly supported my professional development while also enriching me personally and culturally in Poland.

After completing my master’s degree in Ecuador, I joined URK through a research exchange and am now beginning my PhD under the supervision of prof. dr hab. inż. Ewa Błońska at the Faculty of Forestry Sciences. I value URK’s strong research focus, excellent opportunities in forestry sciences, and its welcoming academic community, which have been essential for my development as a researcher.

After more than two decades as a professor in Ukraine, I joined the Cracow University of Technology in 2019. From the very beginning, both my family and I received strong institutional support, creating excellent conditions for relocation and integration. CUT offers wide opportunities for international research, professional development, and continuous learning, alongside a welcoming academic community. Working here is both an honor and a strong motivation for further growth.

I first came to Kraków from Greece in 2012 as a postdoctoral researcher and later returned to the Cracow University of Technology as a faculty member. I value the stability of the Polish academic system, which supports long-term career development, as well as Kraków’s rich environment for interdisciplinary collaboration. Beyond academia, the city’s welcoming atmosphere makes it an excellent place to live and work.

Since starting my PhD at IFJ PAN in 2020, my experience in Poland has been both professionally and personally rewarding. IFJ PAN offers a strong research environment with excellent opportunities for international collaboration, while living in Krakow has been vibrant, welcoming, and easy to call home.

Joining IFJ PAN in Krakow has been a highly positive step in my career. Poland’s strong scientific reputation first impressed me through international collaborations, and working at IFJ PAN has allowed me to grow both professionally and personally. The research environment has opened valuable opportunities, including participation in European research projects.

Since arriving in Krakow in 2008, AGH University of Krakow has supported my growth from graduate student to professor. Today, I lead an international research group developing advanced materials for renewable energy technologies. AGH’s strong research culture, openness, and inspiring environment make it an exceptional place to work. If I had to choose again, I would choose Krakow without hesitation.
