Can a library be a place for board game sessions, piano playing and meeting new people? The Regional Public Library in Kraków shows that it certainly can.
Partners of the “Małopolska – Inspiration For Your Research Journey” project visited the Regional Public Library in Kraków to discuss opportunities for cooperation supporting international researchers and doctoral candidates living in or beginning their professional journey in Małopolska.
The library on Rajska Street is much more than a place where books are made available. It is an open space for meetings and access to culture and knowledge, as well as a place that supports social integration. A wide range of events, workshops and initiatives are organised there, giving visitors opportunities to develop their interests, meet new people and feel more at home in the local community.
During the visit, the participants explored the library’s facilities and learned more about the initiatives implemented by the institution. The discussions also focused on potential future activities addressed to international researchers, doctoral candidates and their families.
We would like to thank the team of the Regional Public Library in Kraków, its management – Mr Jerzy Woźniakiewicz and Ms Ewa Durek, as well as Ms Agnieszka Będkowska for the warm welcome, the guided tour of the library and the presentation of its extensive range of services and activities.
We hope that we will soon be able to jointly invite international researchers, doctoral candidates and their families to make use of this unique place and actively participate in its initiatives.
